It is a Type I environmental label based on the international standard DIN ISO 14024 "Environmental labels and declarations." According to a survey by the German Environmental Agency, the Blue Angel is a highly recognized brand with 90% awareness. 23% of consumers acknowledge that the Blue Angel influences their purchasing decisions. Blue Angel certification ensures that paper fibers are 100% sourced from recycled paper, protecting forests by eliminating the need to cut down trees. It also guarantees that no harmful chemicals or fluorescent brighteners are added during the manufacturing process.
The ECF symbol ensures that paper is produced without the use of elemental chlorine or chlorine compounds to bleach wood pulp, preventing the formation of dioxins and highly carcinogenic pollutants.
The pH neutral symbol indicates the neutral state of the paper, usually determined by an acid-free production process.
The permanent preservation symbol is based on the ISO 9706 standard, and the pH value is calculated based on water extract between 7.5 and 10 and an alkaline reserve (buffering solution) greater than 2%.
